Inner Peace Osteopathy

Happy International Women's Day!

At Inner Peace Osteopathy, cranial osteopathy (craniosacral) is one of the many manipulative techniques rendered to a patient when needed.

While William Sutherland (1873 - 1954) and John Upledger (1932 - 2012) are often acknowledged for founding craniosacral therapy, the truth is that CHARLOTTE WEAVER, D.O. (1884 - 1964) deserves the credit for pioneering cranial osteopathy.

In honour of International Women's Day let's recognize Dr. Charlotte Weaver's achievements in osteopathy:
- Graduated from the American School of Osteopathy in 1912 with additional certificates in physiology and in practical dissection of a cadaver.
- Was personally encouraged by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still to investigate the circulation from the head through the spinal cord.
- Published 13 original articles in the Journal of American Osteopathic Association from 1936 - 1938.
- Elected to the American College of Neuropsychiatrists in 1940 and became certified in neuropsychiatry in 1942.
- Created a cranium model and 3 treatments based on a structural and functional approach consistent with Dr Still's teachings.
